Well Children Visits

Providing care for children from birth to young adulthood

Newborns

Upon discharge from the hospital, the pediatrician will guide you about when to schedule follow-up care in our office. We typically like to see newborns within a day or two of discharge from the hospital.

Infants

Regular check-ups are encouraged at 6-8 weeks, 4-months, 6-months, 9-months, 12-months, 15-months, 18-months, 24-months, & 30-months of age. At each check-up appointment, we review overall health, medications, diet, activity, sleep, safety, and parenting concerns. We will perform a complete physical exam and give age-appropriate advice.

As part of our well child visits, we utilize AAP recommended development screening tools appropriate for infants and toddlers. Immunizations are usually given at each of these visits. We feel that immunizations are very important and we follow the AAP guidelines for administrations. Vaccines will be discussed at each visit.

Children and Adolescents / Young Adults

We encourage a yearly check-up/physical for every child. At these visits, we review overall health, medications, diet, activity, sleep, school and social functioning, developmental milestones and perform a complete physical exam. We routinely check vision and hearing, and for older children, perform mental health screening and pre-participation sports assessments per AAP guidelines. Immunizations are also administered at these visits according to AAP guidelines.

Our office schedules appointments for well visits 3-months in advance. Well child visits may be scheduled with physicians or nurse practitioners. Some of the physicians schedules fill very quickly. Therefore, if you prefer to see a particular provider, please call us as early as you can when the next month’s schedule opens.
